GuestHyundai Santa Fe battery keeps draining overnight – any ideas before I lose it?
I am at my wit’s end with this car. My 2015 Santa Fe has developed this habit where if it sits for more than about 10 hours, the battery is completely dead. I’ve replaced the battery twice in the past year. I’ve had the alternator tested, it’s fine. I’ve done the parasitic draw test with a multimeter and I’m seeing about 0.3 amps with everything off which I think is a bit high but not insane. The weird thing is that if I disconnect the battery overnight and reconnect it in the morning, the car starts right up. So something is draining it while connected. I’ve pulled every fuse one by one and the draw doesn’t drop significantly. I’m starting to wonder if it’s the battery itself that’s defective or if there’s a module that’s not going to sleep. I found a place that offers the Skilled Hyundai Battery Replacement Service By Battery Zone UAE and I’m considering taking it there for a full electrical diag because I’m clearly not smart enough to figure this out myself. Has anyone else had a Santa Fe or similar Hyundai with a mysterious drain? I’ve read about the rear hatch latch or the amplifier being common issues. Also could it be the battery sensor on the negative terminal? I don’t want to just throw parts at it. Anyone know a good auto electrician in Dubai who actually knows Hyundais? I’m spending more on jumps and batteries than the car is worth at this point. Please help.
